🍞 No-Oven Stovetop Bread
Ingredients
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
2 tsp baking powder
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 tbsp sugar (optional, for softer bread)
-
2 tbsp oil or melted butter
-
¾ cup warm water (add slowly; you may need slightly more/less)
🥣 Instructions
1. Combine dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk:
-
flour
-
baking powder
-
salt
-
sugar (if using)
2. Add wet ingredients
-
Add oil and warm water gradually.
-
Mix until a soft dough forms.
-
Knead 3–4 minutes until smooth.
3. Rest the dough
-
Cover and let rest 15–20 minutes.
(This relaxes the gluten and keeps the bread soft.)
4. Shape
-
Divide dough into 4–6 balls.
-
Roll each ball into a circle about ¼–½ inch thick.
5. Cook on stovetop
-
Heat a large skillet or nonstick pan over medium heat.
-
Place a dough circle into the dry pan.
-
Cook 1–2 minutes, until bubbles form and the bottom has golden spots.
-
Flip and cook another 1–2 minutes.
-
Flip again if needed until cooked through.
Repeat with remaining dough.
6. Serve
Enjoy warm with:
-
butter
-
garlic butter
-
olive oil & herbs
-
soups or stews
-
for sandwiches or wraps
