Yum! 😋 Malteser Cupcakes are light, chocolatey treats with that signature malty crunch — a perfect combo of fluffy chocolate sponge, malt-flavored buttercream, and crushed Maltesers on top. 🍫✨

Here’s how to make them:

🧁 Malteser Cupcakes Recipe

(Makes 12 cupcakes)

🧾 Ingredients

For the cupcakes:

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup (50 g) cocoa powder

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ cup (120 ml) milk

  • ¼ cup (60 ml) hot water

  • 2 tbsp malted milk powder (like Horlicks or Ovaltine)

For the frosting:

  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 ½ cups (180 g) powdered sugar

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 2 tbsp malted milk powder

  • 2 tbsp milk or cream

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Topping:

  • Maltesers (whole or crushed)

  • Optional: chocolate drizzle or extra malt powder dusted on top

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat oven & prep pans

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Line a 12-hole muffin pan with cupcake liners.

2. Make the cupcake batter

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and malt powder.

  2. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.

  4. Add half the dry ingredients, then milk, then the remaining dry ingredients.

  5. Stir in hot water until smooth (batter will be thin).

3. Bake

  • Divide batter evenly into liners (about ⅔ full).

  • Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  • Cool completely before frosting.

4. Make the frosting

  1. Beat butter until creamy.

  2. Add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and malted milk powder.

  3. Add milk and vanilla; beat until fluffy and spreadable.

5. Decorate

  • Frost cupcakes using a piping bag or spatula.

  • Top each with a whole Malteser or sprinkle crushed ones on top.

  • Optional: drizzle melted chocolate for extra decadence. 🍫

🌟 Tips & Variations

  • Extra malt flavor: Add 1 tbsp malted milk powder to the cupcake batter for stronger flavor.

  • Filling idea: Add a teaspoon of chocolate ganache or Nutella in the center of each cupcake before baking.

  • Decoration: Mix crushed Maltesers into the frosting for crunchy texture.

These Malteser Cupcakes are fluffy, rich, and perfectly balanced between chocolate and malt — guaranteed crowd-pleasers at any party or cozy dessert moment! 🧁❤️
