A true classic! 🧀🔥 The grilled cheese sandwich is one of life’s simplest and most satisfying comfort foods — golden, buttery bread and gooey, melted cheese inside. Here’s how to make the perfect one:


🧈 Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, or whole grain)

  • 2–3 slices cheese (American, cheddar, Swiss, provolone, or your favorite melty kind)

  • 1–2 tbsp butter (softened)


Instructions

  1. Butter the bread:
    Spread a thin, even layer of butter on one side of each bread slice.
    (That’s the side that will touch the pan.)

  2. Assemble the sandwich:
    Place cheese between the unbuttered sides of the bread, buttered sides facing out.

  3. Cook:

    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.

    • Place the sandwich in the pan and cook 2–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and the cheese melts.

    • Press lightly with a spatula for even browning.

  4. Serve:
    Slice diagonally (of course 😋) and serve hot — perfect with tomato soup or a pickle on the side.


💡 Perfect Grilled Cheese Tips

  • Low and slow → gives you crisp bread and melted cheese (no burning).

  • Mix cheeses! Cheddar + mozzarella = great melt and flavor.
