Yum — potato fritters are crispy, golden, and comforting! 🥔✨
Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for making them at home — perfect as a snack, breakfast, or side dish.


🥣 Ingredients (Makes 10–12 fritters)

  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and grated

  • 1 small onion, grated or finely chopped

  • 2 eggs

  • 3 tbsp flour (or cornstarch for extra crispiness)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Optional:

    • ½ tsp garlic powder or paprika

    • 2 tbsp chopped parsley or spring onion

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or sunflower oil)


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Potatoes

  • Grate the potatoes and place them in a bowl of cold water for 5 minutes to remove excess starch.

  • Drain and squeeze out all the water using a clean towel or cheesecloth. (This helps make them crisp!)

2. Mix the Batter

  • In a large bowl, combine grated potatoes, onion, eggs, flour, salt, pepper, and any seasonings or herbs.

  • Mix until well combined — the mixture should hold together but not be too wet.

3. Fry the Fritters

  • Heat about ¼ inch (½ cm) of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the pan and flatten gently.

  • Fry 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

  • Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.


🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • Serve hot with:

    • Sour cream or Greek yogurt

    • Ketchup or chili sauce

    • Garlic mayo or tzatziki

  • Add a fried egg on top for a hearty breakfast! 🍳


🌟 Tips

  • For extra crunch: mix in a little cornmeal or panko breadcrumbs.

  • To bake instead of fry: brush with oil and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway.

  • You can add grated zucchini, carrots, or cheese for fun variations.
